$1500 laptop for design + light gaming
Hey everyone! I'm a freelance graphic designer who lives in Adobe Creative Suite — Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere — so color accuracy and a great display are non-negotiable. I also like to unwind with lighter games (Hades, occasional AAA on medium settings), so I'd love one machine that handles both.
Budget is around $1,500 with a little flex. Open to Windows or Mac. Portability matters — I work from coffee shops regularly — and 6+ real-world battery hours would be a huge plus. Recommendations with a quick note on why it fits my use case are especially appreciated! 🙏

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14
Strongly recommend the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) — I picked one up a few months ago and it's a killer machine for exactly your use case. The 14" OLED panel has factory-calibrated color accuracy (100% DCI-P3) which is genuinely great for design work, and the Ryzen 9 + RTX 4070 combo handles Creative Suite beautifully while still crushing lighter games without breaking a sweat. It's also surprisingly compact for what's under the hood — my bag barely notices it. Newegg has it right around $1,499. Highly recommend.

go-to for creative professionals
Take a look at the Dell XPS 15 (9530) — it's the go-to for creative professionals for a reason. The OLED touchscreen option has stunning color accuracy, and the Intel Core i7 + RTX 4060 configuration sits right at your budget. It's not a gaming laptop per se, but it handles light-to-medium gaming just fine. Build quality feels premium in a way a lot of laptops at this price don't. Available on Newegg around $1,499–$1,549.
